The No Camera Day

Okay we forgot both camera today. So, there are no pictures. So you will have to use your imagination. We will describe what we can. First, we went to the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium.

We saw two Asian elephants in two separate pens and one was in the shade only showed us his/her backside. The other one was roaming and we got to see it from the side. We saw a Siberian Tiger that we got really close to. He was just quiet, but gorgeous. We saw apes, Gabbons to be specific. The only have apes at this zoo, not monkeys. We saw some new animals including muskox, Malayan Tapirs.

We saw three walruses, E.T at 3000 lbs., Basila, 1800 lbs and blind, and Joan 1400 lbs, several Sea otters, Harbor seals. The Asian otters were very active, wrestling and even waking up the two sleepy ones. We saw Glacier a polar bear who was just laying up on the rocks. But he did look at us just before we left.

The Lemurs are near the kids play ground and the Lemurs have a playground apparatus similar to the kids!! We also saw a ocellated ray and merkats there too!

In the Aquarium, we saw a beautiful seahorse exhibit, clownfish, sharks, an Octopus hiding under a rock.

The Red Wolves were off exhibit. bummer.

Then we drove up to Bremerton to take another ferry back to Seattle.

WA route 16 took up over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Yes, the bridge that replaced the famous bridge that collapsed. There are now two side-by-side bridges. We were on the older of the two bridges. ("In the middle lane", Bob)

The ferry ride was a hour long. We passed a barge in the sound, and a couple sailboats. The top deck was very warm, but the second deck had a good breeze, in fact -- it got cold. This time we were nearly first on and first off.

Then we headed back to the hotel to have dinner with Aunt Geri. We went a different way, but found our way with out GPS!!
