Day 2

After a late night (on Eastern Time) , we tried to sleep in... but Debbie and Bob were awake by 5:40 Pacific Time which is about how late we can ever sleep in anymore. So, Bob turned on the the British Open and Deb got up took a shower and then went back to sleep. We finally got going about 8:00 Pacific. First stop? You guessed it -- Panera. Actually, that is where Bob scheduled to meet with two old friends from Marietta. Unfortunately, one had family commitments, but the other one join us at 10 AM. John Steele is an old friend of Bob's family from the 60's actually! We had a nice time catching up and John gave us some great suggestions for our vacation!

Next, we went to downtown Seattle to the see what we could see. There was a soccer game going on, so it was busy. We drove up past pier 52 and the other piers and saw a para-sailer, a cruise ship, a seaplane flying and lots more.

Then we went to try to see the Southwest Spokane Street Swing Bridge. This is a bridge that we saw on TV. We drove past and tried to get a better look at it and Mr. Ranier from farther down the channel. We stopped a park to try to get a better look and all we did we get wet from the sprinklers in the park! As we drove back up to the bridge, Debbie yells, "It closing!" So we pulled in and got to watch it close.



Later, as we drove around, we saw this cool "sculpture"(?) of an eraser. Last, Maria and Debbie tried taking pictures of Mt. Ranier. The best one was this one that Maria took that looks like Ranier is floating on a cloud above the hill and the lake.









On the way back to the hotel, we took a turn onto Mercer Island looking for food and well we thought we were lost. We finally found a Mexican restaurant, El Sombrero. The fajita's were very good! (Maybe the best I've had since Texas - Bob). There were two young boys there helping their mom. They were great gentlemen and helpers!

We returned to the hotel and then went to Mass at a church in Issaquah. St. Joseph's is pretty church. Very modern, but with a great use of natural light and interesting lines. The young priest had a great homily. Too bad he could come to Alter as a guest speaker!

We finished the night in the pool, (okay, only Sarah and Maria went swimming with their cousins, Alex and Gabe and Uncle Chris).
