Day 5 - Travel Day

Day 5 is a travel day to set up some of the trip. After our last PIT stop for a few days, we hit the road for points east. We traveled thru the beautiful Cascade Mountain Range and into central Washington. The brown desert like terrain was interesting.

Our friend John warned us about possible animals (that Debbie doesn't like) at the rest stops. But we did make one stop in the desert and didn't see or hear one rattle.

Then we got back into some mountains towards Spokane. We stopped in Spokane and had a big lunch at a Marie Calendar's Restaurant. We had the fixings for sandwiches in the car, but we saved them for the hotel.

We made it into Idaho. There the mountains were pretty, but not quite as green as the Cascades. As we crossed into Montana, we noticed that the trees started to show the effects of the beetle we saw last year in Colorado. Idaho and Washington didn't have that problem.

We stopped for the night in Missoula, Montana. We have a big trip up to Glacier tomorrow.

  2. isn't it amazing when you drop out of the cascades and all the sudden you no longer see lush green trees but a high desert? I love that drive. How was the wine tasting?
