Back to Seattle

After breakfast in Port Angeles, we headed back toward Seattle. We wanted to take the ferry from Bainbridge Island back to the water front in Seattle, but one little girl wasn't too keen on the idea. However, Dad gave her a choice. Go on the ferry with Mom and Dad or walk around without them. It's only about 100 miles around. As you can see by the picture, not only did she take the ferry, but she enjoyed it immensely.

It was neat, you could get out of your car, get a cup of coffee or something to eat and walk around the ferry.

After the ferry, we went to eat at the Old Spaghetti Factory down on the waterfront. While waiting for the place to open, we watched BNSF employees replacing railroad ties and while we were eating a BNSF Freight Train rolled by -- Bob was thrilled.

After lunch we did a little more checking out Seattle. We went looking for the troll under the Queen Anne bridge. We had seen it from a distance on the Duck Boat Tour, but we wanted to find it. Bob and Deb were convinced it was on the downtown side of the bridge. After several failed attempts to find it... Maria said it was on the other side.... Finally, we tried the other side and voila, there it was.

Then we headed to our hotel for the night, (via Panera). While we were in Panera, Debbie called our friend Jim from Dayton who also in Seattle with his daughters visiting family. We found out they were very busy. But Jim called back a few minutes later and invited us to come to his sister's house and have dinner. That was in Everett.... on the far north side!


So we checked in and then turned around and drove to the north side of Seattle. Jim's sister has a beautiful house with a beautiful view of Possession Sound (north of Puget Sound). Unfortunately, it doesn't show up behind these girls.

Then as we left, we took a different route home and ended up driving right past the Boeing plant. Maybe because of the hot weather, we got a glimpse into the assembly plant as we drove by!


We saw the Seattle skyline on the way home in the sunset. There were lots and lots of sailboats out tonight. Much more than were out during the weekend of the wedding.
